Description

Please Note: This animal is listed as a courtesy to another organization or individual. Please be sure to contact the foster/caretaker for more information about him/her.Rogue is an 11-year-old Mini American Eskimo with a lot of personality and some very lovable quirks. He is extremely food motivated and absolutely loves treats, meals, and especially Dentastix. One of the quickest ways to win him over is through snacks. He enjoys walks, going by by in the car, swimming, and anything involving water. He also loves cozy, enclosed spaces where he feels safe  especially forts or blanket-covered areas where he can relax comfortably. With people he knows and trusts, Rogue is often a wonderful companion. He can be affectionate, playful, and very normal in everyday life. Although he is cautious around new people, he has shown many times that he is capable of warming up successfully to dog walkers, friends, and extended family members over time. Rogue does struggle with anxiety, and most of his behavioral issues seem to stem from fear and discomfort rather than aggression for aggressions sake. He has bitten several people in the past and can be unpredictable at times, particularly when touched unexpectedly, touched in a sensitive area, or approached when he is feeling anxious or unsafe. Because of this, he has not been able to go to a traditional groomer for several years. He is not naturally social with other animals, but he has shown that with slow introductions, patience, and consistency, he can adapt and coexist normally with some dogs. He has not done well with cats. Rogue's biting is not in a vicious manner, more like nipping and warning to stay away or slow down. Rogue would make a good companion for an experienced dog owner that understands  dogs. Rogue needs a new home because of children in the home. For more information please contact Katie Katiepleshar@gmail.com
