General info
Description
Meet Jake from State Farm! Jake came to the Shelter as a stray found by a good Samaritan. The good Samaritan was concerned because Jake had some obvious wounds on his ear, which we were told were inflicted through conflict with another dog. After some medical observation and treatment, Jake is up for adoption! Typical to his breed, the ideal adopter would be savvy to French Bulldogâs above average medical care needed in relation to their skin, ears, and brachycephalic nature (short nosed). Adopters should be mindful of any stress on Jake through exercise and heat as he is more prone to side effects due to his short nose and restricted airways. Jake has been a social butterfly since his arrival. Even though he likely feels a bit uncomfortable from his injury, he has been easy to handle and amiable. He loves to play fetch and is good at going to get the ball and bringing it back. Jake met another dog around his size and engaged in some play. Any resident dogs should meet at the Shelter prior. We do not have any history of Jake in a home with children or cats. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
