Description
Meet Aubrey, the French bulldog mix pup. Aubrey arrived at the Shelter as a stray so her age, breed and life before now is quite the mystery. A good Samaritan found her and held onto her for a few days, with hopes to reunite her with the family. She coexisted with two German Shepherds but was a bit too much energy for them. There were 4 cats in the home whom she just walked by. Although initially unsure, Aubrey warmed up to staff and volunteers thanks to some yummy cheese. Once she learned they werenât so scary â she would climb into peopleâs laps and seek affection. As she got more comfortable, her playful side started to shine. Aubrey has met a similarly sized dog at the Shelter and was a bit nervous at first and then engaged in some play. She ultimately was more focused on getting attention from the people in the room. Aubrey would thrive with a patient adopter who will take things slow as she decompresses from the Shelter and acclimates to her new home. Some things may be spooky for Aubrey and she will tell you so by moving away, barking and/or growling. Adopters should respect Aubreyâs body language and advocate for her comfort. Aubrey is available for pre-adoption. Come meet her, fall in love and take her home after her spay surgery. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
