YANG — THE FLUFFY BOY WHO LEARNED HE WOULD NEVER GO HUNGRY AGAIN Some kittens carry pieces of their past with them, even after they are finally safe. Yang is one of those kittens. Yang, a gorgeous long-haired black boy, was rescued from a neighboring lot and brought into our care as a tiny kitten. We don't know everything that happened to him before he came to us, but we quickly realized that this little boy had some struggles of his own. Every morning, Yang would wake up looking as though someone had dipped his entire body in oil. His beautiful black coat would become strangely greasy, and we couldn't understand why. With lots of care, medicated baths and time, his coat slowly began to change. And underneath it all was the fluffy little boy we see today. ❤️ Yang's coat is now completely normal, soft and beautifully fluffy, and you would never know he once had such a difficult time with his skin and fur. But there was something else about Yang that took much longer to change. His relationship with food. From the very beginning, Yang acted as though every bowl of wet food might be his last. We don't know if this little boy went hungry before he was rescued, but he ate with an urgency that made us wonder how many times he had gone without. If wet food appeared, Yang wanted ALL of it. His bowl, another kitten's bowl, the leftovers — if there was a drop remaining, Yang was going to find it. It took a long time to teach him something that sounds so simple: The food isn't going away. There will be another meal. You don't have to eat everything you see. You will never have to be hungry again. Little by little, Yang began to understand. Today, he happily eats his dry food and portions himself beautifully with it. He's also learned to slow down with his wet food…although let's just say his future family should still expect him to be the first one at the wet-food bowl and the official cleaner of everyone else's dishes. ❤️ Because of his enthusiasm for wet food, his meals will need a little supervision as he grows so he doesn't finish his own dinner and then casually move over to help Yin finish hers too! And Yin is a very important part of Yang's story. While Yang was overcoming his own challenges, his little Siamese best friend Yin was fighting for her life. These two babies grew up side by side through some of the hardest moments of their young lives. They played together, found comfort in each other and became more than just two kittens sharing a space. They became family. ☯️ Yin & Yang. A fluffy black boy and a beautiful Siamese girl. Two kittens rescued from different places who somehow found exactly what they needed in each other. Today, Yang is a happy, healthy, playful and wonderfully fluffy little boy. His oily coat is a thing of the past, his belly knows that another meal is always coming, and his best friend Yin is never far away. Yang and Yin are bonded and will be adopted together. Yang may always be the first kitten to hear a wet-food can open from three rooms away. He may always inspect Yin's bowl just in case she accidentally left something behind. And he may always believe that cleaning every last bowl is an extremely important household responsibility. But underneath all that fluff and enthusiasm for dinner is a little boy who finally learned what it means to feel safe. He doesn't have to wonder where his next meal will come from anymore. Now we want him to learn one more thing: What it feels like to belong to someone forever. ❤️ Yang found safety. He found his fluff. He found his best friend Yin. Now Yin & Yang just need to find their family. Please help us find the person who will look at these two little survivors and say: "You'll never be hungry, you'll never be alone, and you're finally home." ❤️ Part of adopting a kitten is recognizing that they are babies, and you will get to see firsthand how their wonderful natures develop! Prior to adoption, all kittens are spayed/neutered, tested for FIV/FELV, vaccinated and microchipped. Kittens under 5 months old must be adopted with a buddy or into a house where there's a kitten-friendly pet. This kitten is currently in a foster home. To meet this kitten, please fill out an adoption application so that we'll have your contact information, and we'll get back to you as soon as possible. www.thedancingcat.org/adopt
