Description
*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Fluffy is a sweet, affectionate Pyr who came to NGPR from a North Carolina shelter as an owner surrender for an unknown reason, and he’s now ready to find his forever person. He is housebroken, crate trained, leash trained, and knows “sit,” with lovely house manners. A medium-energy boy, Fluffy enjoys both indoor and outdoor time, especially walks, playtime, and running and rolling in the grass. He is the most affectionate guy with the sweetest puppy-dog eyes and loves resting his head against your leg for pets. He’s also wonderfully silly, with a hilarious “boot scoot” run that will keep you smiling! Fluffy is shy when meeting new people and has not yet been exposed to children, so a home with respectful introductions and appropriate supervision would be best. He has done well with both male and female big dogs and could happily live with or without canine companions, although he might enjoy having a friend to play with. He is shy around cats but doesn’t bother them, and he has shown little interest in the resident rabbits (who are separated by a gate). He doesn’t dig, doesn’t appear to be an escape artist, and is quieter than the average Pyr - he is generally quiet in the house unless other dogs start howling, at which point he happily joins the chorus! If you howl at him, be prepared for a full-on Fluffy serenade. His ideal home would be a semi-active family who will include him in walks and playtime, with either a canine buddy or plenty of attention from his people. A 4-foot fenced yard would be appropriate, or he can be a leash-walk-only dog. Fluffy is a wonderful “beginner” Pyr who is silly, playful, loving, and simply wants someone of his own to love and be loved by. If you call or e-mail you are reducing your chances of adopting this animal as we direct our time and energy to first serving those who apply. NYS Registered Non-Profit Rescue # RR102. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. We have many Pyrs and Pyr mixes who need homes.
