Description
Get ready to fall in love with LEONA, a 1 yearold Shih Tzu, so tiny at just 7.5 pounds! Leona came into our care after she was surrendered to our veterinary partners at Ivy Pets. After everything this little girl has experienced, we’re giving her the time and support she needs to settle in and find a loving home.Leona is slowly discovering how comforting life in a loving home can be. She is still nervous about the world, but once she feels safe with you, her favorite place becomes your lap or napping right by your side. She needs gentle introductions, space to approach at her own pace, and a patient adopter who will celebrate the small steps as she builds confidence. Currently fostered with two other dogs, Leona has been shy but is beginning to open up, though she hasn’t quite figured out playing yet! She has not been around cats. Leona has been doing wonderfully with her potty schedule, with no reported accidents in her foster home, and mostly goes outside. She sleeps comfortably in her crate overnight and settles after some initial crying during daytime crate time. She is still learning leash walking, basic commands, and how to navigate new experiences. Leona has a history of fractures to the two bones in her left front leg, sustained in April 2026 and treated with a splint and bandaging. At her appointment over the weekend she had a normal gait, no observed lameness, and no pain with movement. Leona’s ideal family will give her time, love, and plenty of cozy places to cuddle. Watching this little girl learn to trust, and seeing her choose your lap as her safe place, is something special. She is healthy and spayed otherwise!
