Description

Looking for a loyal sidekick with a giant personality packed into a perfectly sized mix? Meet Rupert! This handsome bully mix is around 3 years old, weighs 65 pounds, and has mastered the art of being both a goofy best friend and a devoted companion.Rupert is completely house-trained, crate-trained, and an all-around gentleman in the home. He happily trots into his crate for a treat, settles quietly, and has never had an accident in his foster home. He knows several commands, including sit, shake, down, and wait, and walks very well on a leash. He loves to train, especially if there is cheese involved. While Rupert can be a little cautious when meeting new people, he doesn't take long to warm up. Offer him a hot dog or toss a ball his way, and you'll likely have a friend for life. Once you've earned his trust, Rupert's affectionate, loyal nature shines through. He loves being close to his people and would make an incredible companion for someone who appreciates the devoted personality that guardian dogs are known for.Speaking of balls, BALL. IS. LIFE. Rupert's favorite hobby, favorite toy, and favorite pastime all involve a ball. Whether he's playing fetch, showing off his catching skills, or simply lounging in the yard chewing on his latest prized possession, Rupert is at his happiest when a ball is nearby. Future adopters should be prepared to maintain a healthy "ball budget" for this enthusiastic collector! Rupert also enjoys squeaking soft toys with his nose and carrying them around the house like they're his babies.Rupert has a medium energy level and is easy to satisfy with a daily walk, some fetch, and mental enrichment. After that, he's perfectly content relaxing beside his humans. He isn't vocal, doesn't struggle with separation anxiety, and has been wonderfully patient as he continues settling into foster care.Rupert's ideal home will likely be adults only and with someone who understands the unique qualities of guardian breeds. He would thrive with a single person or a couple who appreciates his loyal nature and is committed to providing the structure, boundaries, and consistency that help him feel confident and successful. Rupert is a smart, obedient dog who does best when he has clear expectations and a trusted person to guide him. When he is with the right human, he is one of the easiest dogs! He doesn't need a full social calendar, he just needs some quality play and relax time with his trusted people. Rupert would do best as an only pet or with a compatible canine companion after a proper introduction. He coexisted and played beautifully with a 5 month old foster puppy in his foster home and has made a few other canine friends.Rupert's foster family describes him as sweet, loyal, and an absolute ham. He loves rolling in the grass, dramatically flopping onto his back for belly rubs. He also will rarely turn down a hug invitation! If you're a confident adopter who appreciates a dog with a thoughtful heart, a playful spirit, and enough loyalty to last a lifetime, Rupert may be the perfect match for you.If you are interested in Rupert, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450.
