General info
Description
Meet Candy Land, one of our board games puppies! Candy Land came to the Shelter with 7 siblings. Their parents are supposedly a mix of Rhodesian Ridgeback and Great Pyrenees. These floppy eared cuties came as transfers from another agency that needed help adopting out the puppies. They primarily lived outdoors previously but are looking to be safely indoors and a part of the family moving forward to allow for proper socialization as well as keep them safe. Adopters should be prepared to delve into all things puppy such as potty training and age appropriate socialization. We anticipate these will be larger sized dogs so, although cute and small now, adopters with size restrictions at their rental should be thoughtful before adoption. Despite their limited socialization prior to arrival to the Shelter, Candy Land and their siblings are curious, playful and eager to interact with people and their environment. They will thrive in an engaging, active household that will prioritize mental and physical enrichment along with positive reinforcement based training. A home with other animals may be a fit after a slow, thoughtful introduction. Any resident dogs should meet at the Shelter prior to adoption. We do not have any history of these puppies with cats or children. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
