Meet Wynston  Wynston is a sweet 12 lb, almost two-year-old Dachshund mix who is looking for a very special person to help him learn that the world—and people—can be a safe place. He can be nervous and scared around people, especially when approached or handled too quickly. If he feels pressured or doesn’t have a choice, he may become nippy. He needs someone who understands that trust has to be earned on his terms and who is willing to let him set the pace. Patience, consistency, and respect for his boundaries will be incredibly important as he learns to feel comfortable.   The good news? He is making great progress! He is doing well with house training and kennel training, and he is showing that with the right guidance, he can continue to thrive. His ideal home will be with someone who: Understands Dachshund traits and behavior Is patient and willing to build trust slowly Will continue positive socialization and confidence-building Will respect his boundaries and never force interaction Understands that his nippiness is a communication of fear or discomfort, not something to punish Is committed to helping him become a confident, well-adjusted companion Wynston may not be the dog who immediately runs up to a stranger for cuddles, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a lot of love to give. He needs someone who will see the scared little dog underneath the behavior and give him the time, structure, and understanding he deserves.
