Description

Bean is a spayed female 1 year old cat up to date on vaccinations WHO MUST BE ADOPTED WITH HER BROTHER MOMO. Here’s what his foster volunteers say about him:   How would you describe the cat's general personality? Bean (aka Ean Bean McQueen) is skittish and has less mojo than her big bro, but is actually a bit more approachable. If approached slowly, she likes to sniff hands and will often accept a few pets, especially if she’s sleeping on top of her favorite cats.   Does the cat enjoy being pet? Rarely initially, but she does warm up and purr if she’s relaxed. She has an oddly deep purr for such a tiny bean.   If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? Face, head, and a bit of her back.   Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? Not particularly. She darts off sometimes when she gets a full body pet, but doesn’t seem to mind them in other circumstances. She’s accepted occasional chin and chest scratches and foot touches without too much concern.   Does the cat come on your lap? Not with bribery, and that with much more hesitation than her brother.   Does the cat like to be held? No, we’ve been working with her on being picked up but she goes wild after a few seconds kicks to escape.   Does the cat sleep in your bed? On occasion she’s joined us in bed while we’re there and she often sleeps in the bed during the day if the sun is hitting right. Mostly she prefers sleeping near where the other cats are sleeping.   Does the cat seek your attention? No. She’s less curious than her big bro but will tag alone with whatever the other cats are doing.   Does the cat like to play? Yes, she likes to play a bit of catch the toy and will chase basically anything in a circle (lasers, feathers, fake rodents). She also likes to chase a little bit and will sometimes even instigate.   What are the cat's favorite games and toys? Laser pointers, plastic springs.   How vocal is the cat? Very quiet overall   What kinds of sounds does the cat make? Bean will squeak sadly if everyone else is sleeping and she's feeling playful. Not quite ready to accept attention from a human when that happens, but hopefully one day!   Does the cat always use the litter box? Yes, although she's very vigorous with her digging - we recommend one with high walls and investing in a good vacuum cleaner   What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? She eats breakfast and dinner meals with the other cats and lines up for treats when the other cats do.   Is the cat picky about food? No, she’s happy to have all kinds of food.   What is the cat's favorite treat? Greenies are probably her favorite. She’s a very tiny cat and sometimes has to drop them to break them and crunch them in half but has learned that’s a good way to lose treats to our other goblins.   Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances?  She has never attacked anyone in any way… except her brother, sometimes. :)   Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? No, Bean is extremely careful with us. She occasionally baps for treats and has once or twice taken a soft nibble of a finger covered in greenie dust, but is very peaceful. Even when she's desperately trying to stop someone from picking her up, she gives the impression she's trying to get purchase, not do damage (but her claws will be out pretty quickly for that reason.)   Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? She’s occasionally nibbled a finger during snack time but only very gently and never showed any signs of aggression. It's taken her a while to learn how to accept a treat from fingers, and she's still not completely calibrated.   Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No   To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? She’s quite fearful of new people and will often hide with her big bro wherever they can tuck in together.   If you have observed the cat with other animals, please describe how they get on? She loves other cats and will chirp in excitement when she sees them waking up from a nap. She runs over and rubs eagerly, especially against our 15 year old orange. With her bro, she plays a lot, both teaming up to catch anything that rolls and also chasing and being chased around the house. With our spicy 11 year old lady, she knows to respect personal space and maintain at most a butt-to-butt napping position.   Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? Bean is exceptionally polite whereas her bro’s a bit of a brat. If he’s climbing on your for treats, Bean is sitting patiently waiting her turn. If you approach her gently when she’s resting on the couch, and pause respectfully so she can sniff your hand, she’ll stay for some pets. But otherwise will disappear under a table, wait until you’re gone, and then get right back to her spot on the couch to nap.   Despite being shy and a little fearful, she only hides under or behind furniture when startled, and will happily crawl out after the danger (like the vacuum) has been proven vanquished. On the nights when we sequester them in a side room, she's waiting every morning to be let out into the house to roam.   In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? Bean is a very tiny cat and treats other cats like giant bean bags and will form a cat pile whenever she wants to nap (and they're in the mood to let her).   What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? Bean is quite shy so we’ve learned when and where we can approach her to get her more comfortable with us. She was willing to approach for food weeks before her bro but she’s got a bit less mojo than him and will stand just a little too far away often and let the other cats get the treats unless they’re held out to her specifically.
