Cooper

Description

Cooper is an approximately 18 months old, 31 lbs and is 10 0% beagle (he has had a dna test done in the past). He loves to snuggle, sniff all the things in the backyard yard or while on walks (nose work is more necessary that long/high speed walks for beagles), watch the neighborhood from his perch on the back of a couch or on a bed near a window, chew his bone and play with other dogs. He runs a little nervous or anxious so will be a bit standoffish at first. He only goes potty outside (he is a bit of a private pooper so doesn’t often poop on walks or when people are watching) and sleeps in his crate while his foster his out. He loves to be with people so doesn’t appreciate being in the crate if people are home. He marks all the things on walks but has never marked in the house—just that first visit when he smelled where another dog had previously marked and never again. He gets along great with other dogs.  He can be stubborn, particularly if chasing a bunny or squirrel scent but most often comes inside from our fenced yard when called (he gets a treat). He isn’t overly food motivated often waiting hours after the food goes into his bowl to eat. At just 31 lbs he is lean (important for beagles due to the risk of back issues) and easy to handle on a leash even if he does try to pull toward a squirrel. He has lived with cats and done fine.
