 * This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, October 3rd from 12PM – 3PM (unless adopted prior to the event).  3910 Middlefield Road All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption. Adoption fee: $700 Sienna: Little Deer, Big Heart, Excellent Toy Collection Sienna would like to announce that her bed is fully furnished. Toys? Essential. A twig? A tasteful accent. A scrap of paper? Perhaps she’s saving it for her memoir. This 5 month old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix collects her favorite treasures and keeps them close for both playtime and bedtime. After discovering the joys of indoor living, she’s making herself very much at home.   DPS rescued Sienna from a hoarding situation alongside 19 other dogs. They had never left their yard, walked on a leash, or lived inside a house. Everything from a cozy dog bed to a human offering a treat was a new experience. With kindness, patience, and some helpful canine role models, Sienna has been learning “how to dog”—and her sweet, silly personality is beginning to shine.   A Gentle Girl With a Surprise Silly Side   Sienna is an easygoing, gentle puppy who takes a little time to feel comfortable. She arrived timid and unsure, but her foster family has watched her become more curious, affectionate, and ready to join the fun. She has developed a particular fondness for her foster dad and happily accepts scratches and pets from people she trusts.   Once she’s comfortable, out comes the woodland creature routine: little hops, happy jumps, and bouncy play that makes her look like a tiny deer. She’ll also sneak in a kiss when you least expect it. Apparently, affection is best delivered as a surprise.   She loves her foster dog siblings, follows them around, and copies what they do. They’ve been excellent instructors in subjects such as Playing With Toys, Trusting People, and General Household Dog Business.   The Bed Is Her Headquarters   Sienna wakes up with her household, heads outside for a potty break and a little running around, then comes in for breakfast: kibble softened with warm water. Afterward, she gathers her toys and settles into her favorite bed.   Throughout the day, she gets potty breaks and playtime every two to three hours. She’s discovering dog treats and approaching this new culinary category with curiosity. Dinner features wet food, followed by a peaceful night in her bed near her foster family. She sleeps through the night, with little puppy dreams included.   Sienna is comfortable hanging out in an available crate, although her beloved bed remains her first choice. When her fosters leave for a couple of hours, she quietly settles there with her collection.   Small Puppy, Lovely House Manners   Sienna has had no potty accidents in her foster home, an impressive accomplishment for a puppy getting her first introduction to indoor life. Her adopters should continue her regular potty schedule as she settles into a new home. She enjoys chewing on toys and is comfortable having her paws touched and being gently wiped down.    Her Next Chapter   Sienna is still learning that unfamiliar people and experiences can be safe. She may bark when startled and needs gentle introductions, time to observe, and encouragement without pressure. Leashes and walks are entirely new territory, so her family will need to build her confidence gradually before expecting neighborhood strolls.   A friendly resident dog would be a wonderful companion and teacher. She could also thrive as an only dog with adopters committed to helping her grow through patient training and thoughtful socialization. Any children in her home should be 8 or older and able to interact gently and respect her pace.   Sienna’s world used to stop at the edge of a yard. Now it includes soft beds, dog friends, toys worth collecting, and people worth kissing. She’s ready for a family who will celebrate every brave little step—and appreciate a puppy who considers a twig an excellent housewarming gift.
