Ethel is still very much a puppy! But of all her siblings, this sweet girl seems to have the most mature little personality. She has been an absolutely wonderful houseguest and has been the quietest of the bunch in her foster home. Last night, Ethel kenneled without a single complaint and woke up dry this morning, just like her sister Betty! She's proving that these little ladies may actually have some manners after all. Well… mostly. We did learn one very important thing about Ethel: puppy pee pads are apparently NOT on her approved list. She prefers to shred them into tiny pieces like confetti, because apparently when Ethel arrives, the party has officially started! Ethel is a Catahoula mix, which means her future is likely to include plenty of energy, activity, loyalty, intelligence, and personality. She's going to need a family that understands that a smart, active breed needs more than food, a couch, and a cute face to keep her happy. Without appropriate outlets, that busy little brain may find its own entertainment — and puppy creativity isn't always the kind of creativity you want in your house. Catahoulas can also develop prey drive, so early training, socialization, structure, and appropriate outlets will be important as Ethel grows. The good news? Ethel is already showing us that she's smart, willing to learn, and eager to be involved. She is enjoying the other dogs in her foster home and loves spending time with the kids, too. We're looking for a committed household that understands the breed, is ready for the puppy years, and is prepared to continue guiding this little girl into the amazing adult dog she's going to become.
