Meet Hazel!09.15.26we have terrific news! Hazel is officially done with her FIP treatment and she is now up for adoption again! FIP survivor in da house!!! yay!! FIP untreated is deadly. Feline specific and NONE infectious to other cats. its a bit expensive treatment but it's an easy treatment, just lengthy. She was diagnosed and became clinical early June and started her meds MID June. She is now officially DONE with treatment and available for adoption... again! we are so excited for her and we hope she finally finds a wonderful loving home just as she is the most wonderful loving cat. Her foster mom has sent an update and recent pics and videos and this girl is a healthy strong beauty ready to be chosen!  Foster mom notes 9.14.2 Meet Hazel! She is a beautiful and spunky calico who absolutely LOVES her people and has even become quite the social kitty in her foster home, with little to no issues meeting and getting lots of pets from strangers! She definitely prefers to be the queen of her castle (aka a single pet) but will reward you with the best cuddles and lots of affection and purrs. Despite her hilarious calico sass, she is incredibly low maintenance, absolutely loves to play fetch or soccer with her many toys, and truly just wants to be someone’s favorite thing. If you’re interested in meeting Hazel, please reach out!Notes: Hazel has no problem giving "kisses" sometimes she approaches your face with strong eye contact and if you are up to it she will definitely give you a gentle smooch on the lip or nose. Also, she has lived not only at her foster moms as a single pet but ALSO at casa de ARWOB off/on as a multi pet house with both many dogs and cats. She is fine with both. She is not Buddy with the dogs and will ignore them or avoid them and cats is personality dependen. Sometimes she will play with another cat but mostly ignores the other cats. Hence, if you are looking for a bud for your car or dog she's likely not the best match. She is mostly focused on people And great match for a home with a single or multiple humans seeking an awesome companion.  8/9/26 - Here is what Hazel's foster family has to say about her:"Hazel has quickly become one of my favorite fosters ever. Not only is she adorable (look at that beautiful coat!!) but she is so incredibly sweet and cuddly. She always wants to be in the same room as me and will follow me around and plop down at my feet or talk to me regardless of what I’m doing. Throughout the day when she wants some cuddles, she’ll walk right into my lap and nuzzle up, preferring to get as close to my face as possible (she’ll even give little affectionate licks and head butts!). Her random bouts of kitten energy will definitely come through every now and then, too, and she loves anything that moves (especially if she can stalk it through her tunnel). She’s got that trademarked calico sass and personality, which makes her so entertaining to have around, and she seems very happy as the only pet in the house. While she still has a bit of stranger danger with people, once she’s around someone for a few minutes, she quickly becomes comfortable. She definitely prefers her people, though, so I’m excited to see her find her family!! Hazel does take meds once a day, which will continue for the next couple months to ensure she’s a healthy kitty, but she’s become a champ in taking them so it’s not been an issue at all. Love this girl so much!!"2/19/26 - Here is what Hazel's foster family has to say about her:"Hazel is such a spunky yet cuddly kitty! Once she's given a minute to acclimate to her surroundings, she is very confident and has that classic kitten curiosity and playfulness. She absolutely loves anything that moves and will choose playtime over treats most days of the week. With each day that passes, she's also becoming more and more of a lap kitty and, when she's not running around finding things to do, she loves nothing more than to cuddle up on your lap while you work or watch tv. She's also a huge fan of sleeping under the covers and will regularly ask me to lift the blankets up so she can crawl to my feet and curl up -- it's adorable! She's definitely still got a bit of stranger danger to work through but, once she's warmed up to you, she'll absolutely follow you around and peek her nose into everything you're doing. If you're looking for an adorable calico kitty with lots of personality to match, Hazel is your girl!"Original Rescue Story 2/15/26:Hazel was rescued from Ensenada Mexico during the holidays and she was malnurished and weak. She was quarantined and nursed back to health and eventurally transported to San Diego in February to a foster home where she could finish her vetting. She is now spayed and has been Felv/Fiv tested in San Diego.  She is a very healthy girl, fully vaccinated, and READY for her forever family to adopt her. She would be fine as an only kitty, but for a lifetime of happiness she would probably enjoy being adopting along with a second kitty friend (like Koko or Poplar) or into a family with another feline resident.  That would be amazing. Her adoption fee is higher than the city shelter because we need to cover the medical expenses for testing, sterilization, etc. Please, do not submit adoption application if the adoption fee or homecheck and landlord approval requirements are a problem.
