J.D. came to us alongside who we believe to be his brother, Turk, and these two have been so much fun to get to know! J.D. definitely carries himself as the “big brother”—he is often the first to check out something new, making sure everything is safe and okay before anyone else follows along. But once he realized his big brother duties could be put on hold, J.D. showed us that underneath that confident exterior is an incredibly loving and sweet boy! J.D. has the cutest happy trots and wiggles to match his adorable face, and he is always happy to see his brother, Turk. When meeting other dogs, however, J.D. does tend to have a more confident and dominant personality, which means he may not be the perfect match for every dog. We are happy to accommodate a dog meet-and-greet prior to adoption if needed. We would describe J.D. as a medium-energy guy. He enjoys going for walks, playing with plenty of toys, and exploring his surroundings, but his ultimate favorite thing? Butt scratches! And if you happen to give him a really good one, be prepared for the happiest zoomies afterward. J.D. is friendly and affectionate, though like any dog entering a new home, he will need some time to decompress, settle in, and learn his new routine. With gentle guidance, patience, and encouragement, we know he will continue to thrive. He walks well on leash, appears to be potty trained and knows the cues sit. J.D. may take his role as the “big brother” seriously, but he is ultimately just a sweet boy who wants to be loved, included, and reminded that sometimes he can let someone else handle the important stuff. We would love nothing more than to see J.D. find a home where he can relax, enjoy his people, and spend plenty of time doing what he does best—being a good boy and getting those well-deserved butt scratches!
