Meet Ruby! Ruby is a sweet, loving Golden Retriever who is looking for her forever home! She is gentle and affectionate with people and has all the classic Golden Retriever qualities we love: playful, silly, cuddly, and convinced she’s a lap dog. Ruby loves going for walks, playing fetch with her favorite tennis ball, enjoying treats and ice, and joining her humans on adventures. She has lots of energy and does well in the car, making her a fun companion for an active person or family. She knows basic commands including sit, stay, come, lie down, and go potty. Ruby can be timid and jumpy when she is in a new or unfamiliar place. She is fearful of loud noises and lots of commotion, so she will do best with patient people who can give her time to feel safe and comfortable in her new surroundings. She also barks in her crate and can take some time to settle down. When Ruby gets really excited, she sometimes has so much energy that she doesn’t know what to do with herself! She may bark out of excitement, and occasionally her own bark surprises her. It’s just part of her goofy, endearing personality. An important note: Ruby is not good with other dogs and will need to be the only dog in her forever home. She would thrive with a loving person or family who understands her needs and is willing to help her build confidence at her own pace. Ruby is incredibly loving and gentle, and she has the potential to be a wonderful, loyal companion and protector. Once she trusts you, she will happily be by your side—and probably in your lap, too! If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate, silly Golden with a big heart, Ruby may be your girl. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe.
