Meet Lucy!Lucy is an incredibly sweet, playful girl with a big personality and an even bigger capacity for love. She’s the kind of pup who can spend the day running, playing, and having a blast—and then happily crawl into bed with her people for some serious cuddle time.In her previous home, Lucy lived with another dog and did wonderfully with her older canine sibling. She also lived with a cat and enjoyed chasing her around, although her family did not observe aggression toward her. A future home with cats should be prepared to supervise interactions and continue working on appropriate boundaries.Lucy absolutely loves getting out, exploring, and meeting new people. She can sometimes be a little cautious in new, busy, or loud situations, but some reassurance from her person goes a long way. Once she feels comfortable, her sweet and affectionate personality shines through.One of Lucy’s favorite people in her previous home was their 6-year-old son. The two were described as “two peas in a pod.” They loved running around the yard together, Lucy happily accepted his hugs, sought him out for companionship, and would even cuddle up with him at night.However, Lucy has shown that very young children are not a good fit for her. She was uncomfortable around the family’s 2-year-old and would growl when he entered her personal space. Her past family sought help from a trainer and worked with Lucy, but she continued to communicate that she was uncomfortable around their toddler. Ultimately, they made the incredibly difficult decision to return her so she could find a home where everyone—including Lucy—could feel comfortable and safe.Because of this history, Lucy is looking for a home without toddlers or very young children. Her experience with an older child was wonderful, but as with any dog, interactions with children should always be appropriately supervised and her boundaries respected.Lucy really is a wonderful girl. She’s playful, social, affectionate, dog-friendly, adventurous, and an excellent cuddler. Her previous family loved her dearly, and returning her was not an easy decision. They simply recognized that their home was not the right environment for Lucy to thrive.Now she gets another chance to find the family that is.If you’re looking for a sweet, fun-loving companion who can play hard, explore the world with you, and then curl up beside you at the end of the day, Lucy might just be your girl. They were rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas.Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets.
