This pup will be available to meet starting on 10/3Meet Cooper!Someone apparently forgot to tell Cooper that he’s supposed to be a senior citizen.This sweet older gentleman has pep left in his step. Give him a little freedom and suddenly Grandpa Cooper is getting the zoomies, running around the yard, wagging his tail, and reminding everyone that the golden years can still be a whole lot of fun.Cooper found himself at a Texas shelter after his previous owner fell on hard times and could no longer care for him. Losing your home is difficult for any dog, but especially for an older guy who thought he already had his forever figured out.Understandably, the shelter environment was a little overwhelming for him. At times he sat at the back of his kennel and initially walked out with his tail tucked. But once Cooper got outside? He gave himself a big full-body shake, his tail started wagging, and the sweet, happy boy underneath all that uncertainty came right back out.And what a good boy he is!Cooper walks beautifully on a loose leash, knows “sit,” takes treats gently, and has been sweet, wiggly, and well behaved for handling. He was also temperament tested with an unaltered male dog and did remarkably well, spending most of the interaction happily wagging his tail.Then they put him in the play yard.ZOOMIES.Apparently Cooper would like everyone to know there is still plenty of gas left in this particular tank.Cooper has already lost one home through no fault of his own. What he needs now is someone willing to give an older dog another chance—a soft bed, plenty of love, some adventures, a few treats, and a place where he never has to wonder where he belongs again.He may be in his golden years, but Cooper still has so much life to live and so much love left to give.His next home deserves to be the one he gets to keep. They were rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas.Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by using the link in their approval email.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees are non refundable once a pet is taken home.  Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up in Colorado, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances delaying pick up. Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.
