Maverick (A143588) is a 4-year-old catahoula mix who weighed over 60 lbs at intake!09/26/26 This handsome, loving guy is Maverick! Maverick was very reluctantly brought to the shelter due to no fautl of his own. Maverick can be very shy and nervous in new situations. He is looking for a patient home that will help him come out of his shell with slow introductions. Maverick previously lived with a child (4 to 7 years old), and he was said to have done well. He also lived with another dog and a cat, and he was said to have done well with both of them. He was even said to do well with chickens and ducks! Please make sure all introductions are done in a slow and controlled manner, especially given Maverick's anxious demeanor. This guy loves to cuddle, and he loves his people deeply. He was described as being gentle, friendly, and affectionate. He can be vocal at times, and he does have A LOT of energy. Access to a fenced in backyard or a home with an active owner that wouldn't mind a canicross buddy would be the most ideal situation for him. Providing plenty of enrichment can also help direct this energy towards good as well. Maverick was said to be kennel trained and housebroken. His kennel is his safe space, so his previous family did provide it for him to go home with since it is familiar to him. He knows some basic commands, such as sit, lay down, and come.
