Valor is your shadow, your snuggle buddy, and your biggest fan all in one!Valor is a 1-year-old neutered Australian Shepherd mix who may be a little shy at first, but quickly warms up into an affectionate, people-loving companion. He thrives on closeness and will happily stick by your side (or in your lap!) soaking up attention. Personal space? Not part of his vocabulary. His life goal is to become a full-time lap dog, regardless of his actual size.He walks nicely on leash, knows how to sit, and takes treats gently. Like a polite gentleman and has a great foundation to build on. Valor prefers people over toys and would enjoy daily walks and quality time with his person. His previous owners shared that he is housebroken, rides well in cars, has had obedience training, and overall friendly.He had a summer day outing recently with a volunteer and proved he deserved all the glowing reviews. At an outdoor restaurant he strolled nicely on his leash, met a few diners, and wanted to play with the resident off-leash dog. At an indoor coffee shop, he sat at the volunteer’s feet and slowly adjusted–and did so well and at his own pace–to a bustling public space. And in a cool and shady backyard, the outing was topped off with a chance to run and play with two new dog friends and meeting a handful of new and admiring neighbors. Any shyness disappeared instantly. And the volunteer was showered with affection. Because he can be a little shy at first, slow introductions, like a meet-and-greet with other dogs can help him feel comfortable. Given how he did during his Doggy Day Out, a meet-and-greet would go well.With a little time to settle in and some gentle guidance, Valor will be a devoted, lovable companion.
