A SWEET SENIOR LADY: Approx. 12 years old / Approx. 36 lbs. Hi there, I'm Vixey! I was adopted along with another dog named Boomer, who is also available for adoption, when we were both puppies. Sadly, my family is relocating and reports that they cannot take either of us with them. This makes us sad, but we're now in a wonderful foster home and feeling hopeful about the future! We don't have to be adopted together, but if you're looking for two older sweet dogs, please consider both of us.   • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I get along with the other calm dogs I've met, but I'm not looking for a playmate or to live with an active dog, so if you have a dog that sounds like this, let's meet! I formerly went to doggie daycare but am past the playing stage. / No cats as I don't like them. / I haven't met kids yet in my foster home, but my former family reported that I liked the kids I met while I was with them, though I don't recall their ages, so if you have kids, let's meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over.     • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I'm a very sweet, lovable girl who can be sensitive, but once I'm comfortable, my gentle personality shines through. I'm calm, well-behaved, and wonderfully easygoing, and I love simply being in whatever room my people are in. I also have an independent side, so you don't need to entertain me. I'm happy to lounge on a comfy bed when my folks are away and I don't get on the furniture, counter surf, or get into things I shouldn't. I'm quite content to relax and enjoy the easy life just getting belly rubs and having my people nearby. A cozy place to rest is pretty much ideal. / Energy level: 2-4.       • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I don't seem concerned about or know commands but if you like, Mostly Mutts offers free lifetime training classes for all their adopted dogs, so we could give them a try. / I've never been crated and do not seem to need one. When my foster leaves the house for a few hours at a time, I've been fine. At night I sleep in a dog bed next to my foster's bed. / My potty manners are good on my foster's takeout schedule of every few hours. My former family reported that I also used potty pads when they were gone longer.         • LIKES/DISLIKES: I enjoy short walks, lots of affection, and spending my day relaxing in a cozy spot. I'm happiest when I can be in whatever room my person is in, just keeping you company. Belly rubs are a definite favorite, and celery and carrots make wonderful little treats! / I'm not a fan of nail trims, but I know they need to be done, so  I should be able to learn that they aren't so bad with patience and encouragement. And like all dogs, I'm sure I wouldn't like it if I didn't get enough love, attention, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I'm on an inexpensive over-the-counter joint supplement called Cosequin that's good for all older dogs. I have moderate tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet and consider a dental cleaning in the future. When outside with my family after dark, things are a little harder for me to see.  I'm a wonderful lady looking for a family that will treasure me and take great care of me!
