Here is what Krystal's foster family has to say about her: `Krystal is a 10-week-old Pittie mix who is already proving to be one very special little girl. This happy, wiggly bundle of love is playful, affectionate, incredibly smart, and absolutely full of kisses. For such a young puppy, Krystal is doing fabulous with potty training and is already a total rockstar in her crate. She loves her crate and sleeps through the entire night in it. Like any 10-week-old puppy, she still needs lots of naps during the day, and she’s figured out that when she gets overtired and starts looking for trouble, it’s time for a little crate nap. Krystal is a super listener and incredibly quick learner. She picks up training so quickly and already has an amazing recall for her age. And yes, she already knows her name. She absolutely loves other dogs and thinks cats are just new friends waiting to be snuggled. She wants to be everyone’s best friend and is happiest when she can be close to her people. Krystal is still very much a puppy, so she can be pretty mouthy and is currently learning that those adorable little teeth need to be used appropriately. With consistency and positive guidance, she is learning beautifully. She is also a fantastic little travel buddy. Krystal does great in the car and usually sleeps the whole way. Every now and then, she likes to put her head out the window and enjoy the breeze like the little adventurer she is. Krystal is truly an exceptional puppy for her age. She has such a wonderful combination of intelligence, sweetness, playfulness, and affection. Her future family is going to be incredibly lucky—and truly blessed—to have this little angel in their lives. Krystal is ready to find the family who will love her, guide her, and watch her grow into the amazing dog she is destined to be.`Krystal is available for pre-adoption. Come meet her, fall in love and take her home after her spay surgery. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw!Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
