Suess is a 3 year old, 19 lb French Bulldog with a heart full of charm and a personality that wins people over instantly! Energy Level: Low-Medium Fence Required: No Dog's Location: Fuquay-Varina, NC Medical Notes: Suess has a significant gastrointestinal medical history, including recurrent rectal prolapse and intussusception, but we are happy to report he is doing well today after many treatments and procedures. He did have additional episodes of rectal prolapse and intussusception and received an additional surgery and colopexy. Through ongoing vet care, we have fine-tuned Suess’ diet, medications, supplements, and daily routine to determine what works best for his individual gastrointestinal system. Since the first week of August 2026, Suess has not had any further rectal issues and is really thriving! A full list of his diet, supplements, and medication will be provided to potential adopters. About Suess’ Breed: Our best guess is that Suess is a French Bulldog breed. French Bulldogs are affectionate, people oriented companions known for their expressive faces, sturdy little bodies, and charmingly goofy personalities. They thrive on closeness with their humans and are happiest when they can relax on the couch, follow you from room to room, or enjoy short bursts of play before settling in for a nap. Because they bond deeply, Frenchies do best in homes where they aren’t left alone for long stretches and can enjoy steady companionship and gentle structure. Their ideal home is one that offers consistent routines, moderate activity, and plenty of affection. They’re typically great with respectful, dog savvy kids and enjoy being part of a calm, loving household. Due to their brachycephalic (short nosed) build, they do best in environments that avoid extreme heat and prioritize their comfort and safety. While Suess can’t walk long distances — especially in the heat — he still enjoys sunbathing and will try to nap in the sunshine as long as possible. His energy varies throughout the day: he’s mostly a medium to low energy dog, but he still gets bursts of puppy joy, like post potty zoomies or moments when he wants to play with every toy he owns. He loves chasing his ball, thrashing soft toys, and bouncing with excitement when it’s mealtime. And when he’s done, he’s the ultimate couch potato, ready to snuggle on your lap, stretch out on your chest, or curl up wrapped in a blanket in his dog bed. Suess is wonderful with other dogs — playful with small dogs, respectful with older ones — and he’s been great with children as young as two. He’s social, gentle, and genuinely delighted by everyone he meets. He’s also crate trained and potty trained, making him an easy companion in the home. His only real dislike is having his face rolls wiped, but he’ll tolerate it as long as you follow up with a belly rub.
