Description
HEMLOCK NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Hemlock Best Guess for Breed: Beagle and lab mix Best Guess for Age: 1 year as of April 2026 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 25 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Special Adoption Considerations: In certain home settings -- where the environment might be loud or more intense -- this dog would do better with another dog in the home to give him confidence. Currently Living at: DC area foster home Hemlock is Looking For: His forever home! This cutie is looking for his own humans to trot alongside on those sniffy walks (that beagle nose!) and adventures to burn all that awesome young-dog energy. Making new pup pals along and having plenty of opportunity to run and play is on his wish list along with quality kibble and a cushy dog bed. But above all he wants to know where he belongs, to be under his own roof, to be safe and loved. In exchange, he promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Can you see him by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: Hemlock is a bit shy and takes a little time to get comfortable in new situations. Once Hemlock warms up and begins to trust you, he shows his sweet and loving personality and becomes an incredibly rewarding companion. Heartworm information: Hemlock is a truly Lucky Dog. He tested positive for heartworms, but has been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. Hemlock has completed this activity restriction period. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter along with heartworm treatment.
