Slugger- looking for his second chance

Slugger is a handsome boy who is looking for a new home. He is with our rescue partner in Louisiana and can come to NJ with an approved foster or adopter. Meet Slugger—a sweet, playful pittie mix who has already overcome more than any dog should have to. He was found as a stray, heartworm positive, and with an old injury to his front leg. After multiple veterinary visits, Slugger’s doctors determined that he is not in pain and that surgery is not the best option for him. Yes, his little front leg turns in—but don’t tell Slugger that he is any different. This happy boy runs, plays, and keeps up with the best of them! Slugger is thriving in his foster home alongside multiple dogs and is proving every day what an incredible companion he is. He is: • Playful and affectionate • Friendly with people and dogs • Great on leash • A good car rider • Full of personality, sweetness, and joy Slugger has had a rough beginning, but he is ready for the soft bed, loving family, and happily-ever-after he has always deserved. He is the whole package—resilient, silly, loving, and ready to be someone’s very best boy. Could Slugger be the missing piece in your family? Slugger is neutered,  microchipped and is up to date on vaccines. He  tested positive  for heartworm and is going through treatment, he will be available to come to NJ on Nov . His  adoption donation is $500. Adopting an animal is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these animal have been through they deserve a loving, committed home.
