At three years old, this spayed Shepherd mix is a smart and sensitive girl looking for an experienced adopter who understands the needs of her breed. She already responds well to verbal cues such as `sit` and `shake a paw,` may know `down,` takes treats gently, and is easy to guide with food lures, making her a great candidate for continued training. She would do best in a calm, quiet, yet active and structured home that can provide consistent routines, daily leash walks, and plenty of mental enrichment. Due to her shy, fearful, and timid nature, she is seeking a home without small children; a home with respectful children aged 12 years and older may be considered at the discretion of Animal Behaviour Coordinator. She is looking for an owner who can continue building her confidence through a food enrichment program that includes interactive feeders, food puzzles, hand-feeding, and trade-up exercises. A securely fenced backyard is required to help her safely transition into her new environment. Off-leash dog parks are not recommended, as she will need time to build a bond with her new family, develop reliable recall skills, and carefully assess her comfort around other dogs. She has shown herself to be somewhat asocial with dogs in the shelter environment and may prefer more selective canine interactions.
