Fontina (TN)

Description

This quiet, gentle, mild-mannered girl is Fontina, a 3-year-old, 19 lb. sweetheart. Fontina is at ease meeting new people and new dogs, but she is apprehensive about new environments and sudden, unexpected noises, preferring to keep her distance a bit before determining that there is no danger. She very much likes going for walks and is confident on leash, but otherwise has just moderate energy, enjoying frequent naps in safe locations -- like under a bed or in the foot-well of a desk. She will closely follow "her" people around the house, often quite close at foot, but she isn't otherwise clingy or demanding. She gets most animated when you sit on a sofa and invite her up... then she is all about cuddling, presenting her belly for rubs, and playing a bit of "hand" with her mouth -- but if you don't want to play "hand," she is extremely responsive to a simple verbal "uh-uh".   Fontina is reliably house-trained (she will go right to the door when you say "Let's go outside" and then promptly do her business), assuming she is given adequate outdoor opportunity. She doesn't like being in a crate (possibly because it signifies a car ride, and she does sometimes get car sick) but when she is required to be in a crate, she accepts it quietly and calmly. Based on physical characteristics and temperament, we believe that Fontina is a rat terrier/Boston Terrier mix.
