Meet Hailey, a 1-year-old Aussie/Hound mix weighing about 36 pounds!  Hailey enjoys squeaky toys, bones, playing fetch, walks in quiet places, wrestling with dog friends, and—most importantly—a good snuggle session with her favorite humans.     This girl is looking for a family who will love her for the sweet girl she already is while continuing to help her build confidence and polish her skills. Hailey is house trained and comfortable with a leash, though like any good hound mix, she is often distracted by her nose on walks.  Hailey plays very well with dogs who enjoy a good game of chase and wrestling; her dog-play is very socially appropriate, but she may want more play than small or non-playful dogs want.   Hailey is most comfortable walking in quiet spaces and can be a little cautious in new situations and when meeting new people; having another calm, confident dog at her side can help, but she can manage those situations on her own, too , when she’s given time to approach and get comfortable at her own pace and with positive reinforcement and plenty of yummy treats. Once Hailey decides you’re one of her people, prepare to have a new shadow! She bonds quickly and loves being close to her humans.  Hailey only recently arrived in RI, so we ’re still getting to know Hailey in her new home routine.   Her new family should be prepared to give her time to adjust to a new routine and help her build confidence as she settles in.    Hailey is still a young dog with some things to learn, but that’s part of the fun! She’s sweet, playful, affectionate, and full of personality, and she’s looking for a family who will give her the patience and consistency she needs to keep growing into her best self.   If you’re looking for a quiet homebody buddy, playmate for your pup, professional toy squeaker, and loyal little shadow all rolled into one, Hailey might just be your girl! We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence.
