  Adoption fee: $650   Meet Froyo   Froyo is a 14–16 week old Lab mix who weighs about 20 pounds. His mama was a 50-pound Lab mix, while Dad’s identity is a mystery, so his exact breed mix and eventual adult size are anyone’s best guess. Unlike their brother Sorbet, Froyo and Gelato have long bodies and short legs, making us think there may be some Dachshund in there! Froyo is a gentle, thoughtful puppy who takes his time getting comfortable—but once he feels safe, the wiggles and wags begin.   A Sweet Puppy Learning to Trust  Froyo wasn’t feeling well when he first arrived in his foster home - he had a touch of kennel cough and was low energy. Once Froyo started feeling better, he became a different puppy. His energy returned, his tail started wagging, and his silly side began to emerge. He is still slow to approach new people, but he is friendly, gentle, and increasingly interested in affection. Tasty treats help, and he has begun accepting pets and scratches from his foster family.  Froyo isn’t the kind of puppy who immediately charges into a stranger’s lap. He wants a chance to observe, settle in, and decide that everything is safe. His trust may need to be earned, but watching him blossom is well worth the wait.   A Day in the Life   Froyo wakes up around 7 a.m. and is delighted to see his foster family when he is let into the yard. He is offered breakfast, although he may not be hungry right away, so his food is left available for him to eat throughout the day.   He loves exploring the yard with his foster siblings and is always ready for a good game of hide-and-seek in the bushes. After playing and investigating, Froyo happily accepts a boost onto the couch, where he can relax with a nap and a belly rub.   The puppies spend plenty of time outside when the weather is nice, alternating between energetic play sessions and important puppy naps. At night, Froyo sleeps in the laundry room with Gelato. Bedtime is around 10 p.m. He always has access to a crate and used it frequently when he wasn’t feeling well, but now the crate is more likely to serve as a hiding place for toys.   Dogs and Cats   Froyo enjoys playing with the other dogs in his foster home and appears to gain confidence from having canine friends nearby. He has also met the resident cats, and the introduction went well.       The Perfect Home   Froyo will thrive with a patient family that understands that some puppies need a little extra time to trust. He should be allowed to approach new people at his own pace, with treats, encouragement, and gentle affection helping him along the way.   Like any young puppy, Froyo will need continued work on potty training, leash skills, socialization, and basic manners. In return, his adopters will get the joy of watching a once-frightened puppy become increasingly playful, affectionate, and secure. Froyo is an incredibly sweet boy, and with patience and love, he will make a wonderful addition to his future family.
