Meet Signet — Your Future Little Shadow!  Hi everyone! My name is Signet. I am approximately 15 weeks old and 20 pounds and I'm a very busy little German Shepherd girl with a BIG personality packed into my puppy-sized body!  First things first: I LOVE TO PLAY! I love playing with my sister, my big foster canine brother, and pretty much any toy I can get my paws on. However, I'm told fabric toys are a no-go. Apparently I'm not supposed to chew off pieces and eat them, not sure why they make them taste so good then. I'm curious about the cat. I'm also a huge fan of my human family. I especially love my 6-year-old human foster brother, who gets LOTS of puppy kisses from me. While I'm great with him, my foster mom thinks I'd do best with older kids who understand that puppies are nibblers. I'm working on learning that hands and fingers aren't chew toys, but sometimes my enthusiasm gets the better of me!  And speaking of enthusiasm… I'm VERY food motivated. My foster mom says this is wonderful for training because I learned SIT super fast! The only slight problem is that when you present me with a treat, I become extremely excited about getting that treat into my mouth as quickly as physically possible. Apparently, this creates a bit of a finger risk. We're working hard on being gentle, and my foster mom actually loves how eager I am to learn. I'm a German Shepherd, which means I'm smart, athletic, energetic, and happiest when I have a job to do. My foster mom is currently helping me explore my career options, although unfortunately I've already decided that my calling is: PROFESSIONAL HOLE DIGGER. She does not seem nearly as impressed with my landscaping abilities as I am. I'm extremely athletic and LOVE to run and jump. Don't let my small puppy body fool you—I can jump surprisingly HIGH! Because of this, a secure six foot fenced yard is a must for me. A yard where I can safely zoom around and burn off some of my puppy energy would be absolutely wonderful. I'm still learning some of the less exciting parts of being a grown-up dog, too. Potty training is a work in progress, but I'm getting better every day! Collars and leashes aren't exactly my favorite things yet, but I'm slowly getting more comfortable with them. With patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement, I'm becoming more confident. I am crate trained but am used to going in the crate with my puppy sister.  I'm also a bit of a sensitive girl. New people and loud noises can make me nervous. Sometimes a loud outdoor sound will send me running back inside to my safe place. But here's the really cool thing: when I see my foster family and the rest of my doggy pack aren't worried, I start to realize that everything is okay. I'll cautiously venture back out and try again. I'm learning to be brave at my own pace. And when I finally decide you're my person? Get ready for a shadow! I love my whole foster family, but like many German Shepherds, I have a tendency to form a particularly close bond with one person. My foster mom calls me her little shadow because I love following her around and keeping track of what she's doing. I'm also perfectly happy to climb right into her lap (even though I'm pretty sure I'm going to outgrow the "lap puppy" category sooner than she'd like!) or curl up right beside her on the couch.  I'm still a puppy, so yes… I come with zoomies, teeth, questionable landscaping decisions, a few potty-training accidents, and some things to learn. But I also come with brains, athleticism, an eagerness to learn, a LOT of love, endless kisses, a toy obsession, and the potential to become someone's incredibly loyal best friend. I'm looking for someone who will be patient with me, teach me, give me a job, and let me grow into my confidence. And if you happen to have a belly rub available, a toy to throw, a treat in your hand, and a couch I can curl up on … I think we might be a perfect match. Interested in adding Signet to your home?
