  Adoption fee: $650   Meet Mr. Softee!   Mr. Softee is a 1–2 year old, 50-pound goofball who looks like someone shrank a Husky and stretched him over the body of a Corgi. He is long, low, gloriously goofy, and equipped with a pair of truly spectacular eyes. His breed may be a mystery, but his talent for making people laugh is undeniable.   Soft on the Inside   Mr. Softee is a sweet, social guy who loves belly rubs, couch cuddles, tug-of-war, outdoor adventures, and playing with other dogs. He is affectionate without being demanding: sometimes he curls up beside his people, and other times he stretches out on the cool floor or relaxes on the patio.   His signature sleeping position is upside down with all four legs in the air. When it is time to put on his harness, he frequently flops onto his back and requests a belly rub instead. Apparently, every activity is belly-rub time if you believe in yourself.   He is also charmingly uncoordinated. He occasionally bumps into furniture, trips on the stairs, or tumbles into a plant while playing, then continues with his day as though nothing happened.   The Daily Scoop   Mr. Softee begins his day around 7:00–7:30 AM with a long morning walk, followed by breakfast around 8:30 AM. He spends much of the day resting near his foster family, with breaks for training, play, and a lunchtime outing.   In the evening, he enjoys another walk and often visits the park. After making the rounds to inspect everyone, he tends to choose a “best friend” for the day and settles in for a good play session. Dinner is served around 7:30–8:00 PM.   At night, he sleeps loose in the bedroom, usually on a thin dog bed or the cool floor. He is housetrained and will sometimes sit by the front door when he needs an extra potty trip. He is not currently crate-trained and appears much more comfortable relaxing in a safely dog-proofed space.   Professional Toy Deconstructor   Mr. Softee has a moderate energy level. He is perfectly capable of snoozing beneath a desk for much of the day, but he also needs daily walks, playtime, social opportunities, and activities for his curious brain.   He especially loves soft toys, although “loves” may be the wrong word for what he does to them. Stuffed animals are enthusiastically dismantled, so his future family should be prepared for frequent toy surgery—and possibly a steady supply of replacements.     Social Butterfly with a Big Voice   Mr. Softee loves other dogs and regularly enjoys off-leash play. He can be enthusiastic during introductions and sometimes greets dogs with barking or growling that sounds much more serious than his intentions. Once play begins, he generally adjusts well and has been gentle with dogs his size and smaller. He could be happy as an only dog with regular canine playdates or with a well-matched resident dog.   Walks are one of his favorite things, but his excitement can make him vocal and reactive when he spots another dog—and occasionally a person. His foster family has already seen improvement as they work on helping him continue walking rather than fixating. Loud vehicles can also startle him, although his response is to move away rather than confront them.   Mr. Softee’s Ideal Home   Mr. Softee is looking for adopters who appreciate a goofy, affectionate, adventurous dog and are committed to continuing his positive training. He is still working on leash manners, calm greetings,  and becoming more responsive outdoors when the world is far more interesting than any treat.  He has also shown some guarding behavior when over-excited, so his adopters should be comfortable reading canine body language, respecting his boundaries, managing high-value items, and allowing introductions to happen at his pace. Because he has not lived with children and can be sensitive in certain situations, an adult home—or one with older, dog-savvy children—would be the best match.   Give Mr. Softee a calm home, affectionate people, consistent training, dog friends, daily adventures, and plenty of belly rubs, and he will reward you with cuddles, comedy, spectacular upside-down naps, and the unforgettable sight of a pocket-sized Husky built like a coffee table.
