Lena is a 1-year-old, 10-pound Terrier mix with a sweet little heart that is just waiting to feel safe enough to let it shine. Lena really wants to be your friend, but she isn't quite sure yet that people can be trusted. She came to us with her two brothers, who were also on the shy side, so Lena has had a lot to learn about the world and the people in it. Once she gets to know you, she does warm up, but she can still be hesitant about coming up to you and asking for attention. Lena is looking for a special family who understands that trust takes time. She will need someone willing to be patient, let her come out of her shell at her own pace, and celebrate the little steps along the way. We think watching her confidence grow will be incredibly rewarding! A confident, friendly family dog could also be a wonderful role model for Lena. Having another dog around may help her learn that new things aren't so scary and show her how much fun being a loved family member can be. Lena isn't the dog who will run up to you on day one and immediately demand belly rubs. She's the girl who will quietly watch, learn that you're safe, and eventually decide that maybe you really are her person. ❤️ If you have the patience and heart to give Lena the time she needs, she could blossom into a wonderful little companion. Please understand you are committing to providing a good home for her entire life (up to 15+ years or more.) You must be committed to housebreaking, age-appropriate enrichment and exercise, leash training, grooming needs, and positive socialization. Her adoption fee is $150. This includes her spay surgery, rabies vaccination, Nobivac® Canine 1-DAPP vaccination, Nobivac® Intra-Trac 3 vaccination, Drontal® Plus, IDEXX SNAP® 4Dx Plus Test, Tri-Heart® Plus chewable tablet, 24PetWatch® microchip, and leash and collar. Please be aware that puppies and small breed dogs do get adopted quickly so interested parties are encouraged to apply online at www.saspca.org. Please ensure your application is complete before submitting. We do verify property ownership, landlord references, apartment/HOA restrictions, veterinary references.
