Gemma

Description

Gemma's adjustment to her new foster home was very smooth and totally uncomplicated. She easily made friends with the other dog and was happy to meet new people. Her personality is very straightforward and low key. She is quite independent and not needy. Gemma was fostered for a few months in Mississippi and her foster there reported the same comfortable eadiness about her. We don’t know about Gemma with cats and kids, but she has been calm and companionable with other dogs. She does not appear to have a prey drive - squirrels and rabbits don’t interest her but she does like to play with toys and she is okay sharing her toys with other dogs. Gemma is very affectionate and enjoys snuggling and cuddling. If other dogs are getting attention, she does want in on the action, but is not pushy. Her house training has been excellent, and so far she has done just fine with being left alone for periods of time in a gated area. She’s very quiet and does not bark often, but when foster mom and dad return home, suggest a walk or she knows it is treat time, Gemma has the cutest little excited whine.  Her foster mom has not crated Gemma and at night she sleeps on the couch. She does well on leash but she would love to have a fenced yard with trees and bushes where she could explore off leash so. Gemma is heartworm negative and absolutely ready to go on sleepover!
