Description

Benny is looking for a special home.  This sweet handsome boy is 11 years young. He’s got pep in his step and flap in his giant ears. However, it is very clear that he has been through some trauma in the last few years, which has resulted in resource guarding behavior around food-related items. He also sometimes needs his space and requires that his people pet him only when he asks for attention.  The good news? He shows none of this behavior toward other dogs and his triggers can be managed with some careful set-up of his environment. The better news? Benny has been working on learning new behaviors with the help of a professional trainer. He will continue to need reinforcement of these new behaviors in his new home.  Benny needs to go to a home with adults only. Not because he doesn’t like kids, but because kids have a harder time with following the systems required to keep everyone safe. He would be happy with or without furry siblings and has lived with dogs, a cat, and a rabbit.  Do you have room in your heart and your house for an older gentleman who wants nothing more than a walk, a snack, and a nap? Can you modify the environment so that no food or food-adjacent trash is accessible to a determined beagle nose? Can you resist petting these big old ears unless requested? If yes, Benny needs you!!
