 PRESTON — From a Patio Bed to a Forever Home . When Preston first appeared in a Forgotten Cats volunteer’s neighborhood in June, this handsome creamsicle tabby was starving, frightened, and trying to survive on his own. No one knows where Preston came from or how long he had been outside. But one thing was clear—he had known hunger. When our volunteer began feeding him, Preston would eat multiple cans of food at a time, as though he couldn’t trust that another meal would ever come. How many nights had this sweet boy spent sleeping beneath cars or hiding in bushes, wondering where he would find his next meal? Our volunteer put a soft bed on her covered patio for him. It didn’t take Preston long to realize that this little spot was safe. Soon, the patio became his home. . And slowly, the real Preston began to emerge. He is sweet, wonderfully talkative, and absolutely LOVES treats! He would curl up for hours in his comfy bed, and as he learned to trust his new friend, he began looking forward to the time she spent sitting outside with him—talking to him, giving him treats, and simply letting him know that someone cared. Then came the day it was decided that Preston needed to come to Forgotten Cats and finally leave outdoor life behind. Almost as if he knew something was about to change, Preston stood outside crying to come into the house. But he was still frightened. He wouldn’t go into the trap at first. So the volunteer who had earned his trust sat outside beside him and talked to him. Hearing that familiar voice helped Preston feel safe enough to go in. Now Preston is safely inside at Forgotten Cats, but his world has changed once again. He seems a little sad and confused, as though he doesn’t quite understand why he has lost the little patio home where he finally felt secure. Yet even through all that uncertainty, Preston continues to be such a sweet boy. He is accepting pets from the volunteers and especially enjoys seeing the familiar face of the person who cared for him outside. What Preston doesn’t know yet is that this is not the end of his story. This beautiful creamsicle boy has already learned that a full belly feels good, a soft bed can be safe, treats are wonderful, and a gentle human can be trusted. Now he needs to learn the most important thing of all: that some homes really are forever. Preston deserves a family who will look into those beautiful golden eyes and promise that he will never again have to wonder where his next meal will come from, where he will sleep, or whether he is wanted. He has spent enough time surviving. Now it’s Preston’s turn to be home. .
