Description

Haru is a 5-year-old Cattle Dog/Chihuahua mix weighing about 30 pounds, and he's a very sweet, easygoing guy. Calm and affectionate, he likes staying close to his person and is perfectly happy lounging on the couch, stretching out on his bed, or curling up in bed with you. And if the belly rub stops before he's ready, he'll give you a gentle paw to let you know.Haru is also a pretty easy companion around the house. He appears to be potty trained, does well in his crate (although he'll whine a little because he'd rather be with you), and is great in the car. He's polite when taking treats and is a little timid around his dinner. He enjoys toys, especially small stuffies that he likes to carry around in his mouth.He's doing well on walks and is a leisurely walking buddy who likes to take his time sniffing and exploring. He knows sit and paw, responds to his name, and seems to know down. He's still getting comfortable with some new experiences—he was a little nervous on trips to PetSmart and Home Depot—so his foster is continuing to help him build confidence at his own pace.Haru was housed with another smaller dog before coming into foster care, but he has not yet been introduced to dogs in his foster home, so we're still getting to know him in that regard.If you're looking for a calm, affectionate companion who would be happy to spend his days hanging out with you, taking leisurely walks, carrying around a favorite stuffy, and getting plenty of belly rubs, Haru might be just the guy you're looking for.PAW adopts in Maryland, DC, northern VA, and southern PA.
