Foster location: Weyauwega Application & Website: https://www.ourpackanimalrescue.com/adoption.html Bio: Meet Bru Bru is a 6-month-old Shepherd/Pit mix with a big heart, an even bigger body, and absolutely zero concept of personal space. When Bru was at an overcrowded shelter in Illinois, he was given the name “Ears.” And, well… we understand why. Those ears are pretty spectacular! But “Ears” just didn’t feel like a proper name for this handsome boy. So, naturally, Bruce Wayne it is. Bru is a total lovebug who lives for cuddles, affection, and being close to his people. He is incredibly sweet and wants nothing more than to be your best friend. He also happens to be a large, very goofy puppy who is still figuring out how all his parts work together. His body seems to have grown faster than his brain has caught up! Bru loves to play and gets very excited, but he doesn't always know where his giant puppy body is going — or exactly where that open mouth is about to land. He is learning that humans are not jungle gyms and that jumping on people is not an acceptable greeting. His new family will need to continue working with him on manners, impulse control, leash skills, and learning how to politely say hello. What about cats? Bru is also learning how to appropriately play with the resident cat in his foster home. He is interested, playful, and very enthusiastic — but he can be a little rough and doesn't always understand how big and strong he is. Because of this, any interactions with cats will need to be supervised, and his family will need to continue helping him learn to be gentle and respectful of his feline friends. Slow introductions, boundaries, and positive reinforcement will be important as he learns. And then there is Bru's adorable little party trick… He gets excited. Very excited. And sometimes he pees. New people arriving? Tinkle.�Extra-special attention? Possibly tinkle.�Exciting moment? You guessed it. This is not him being naughty. At his age, excitement urination can happen, and Bru simply hasn't mastered keeping his emotions and his bladder completely separate yet. He will need patience, consistency, and a little understanding while he grows up and learns. Bru is a big puppy — and that's important! Because Bru is a Shepherd/Pit mix and already a substantial puppy, his future family should be prepared for months of growing, learning, and maturing. He is still very much a puppy in a big-dog body and will need continued training, structure, patience, and plenty of appropriate outlets for his energy. Bru may be a work in progress, but underneath all that goofy puppy energy is an incredibly sweet boy who just wants to love his people and be part of a family. Our Pack Animal Rescue, Inc.
