For nearly 12 years, Max knew nothing but love. He was one of six little dogs who were pampered, cuddled, groomed, taken to the vet, and treated like family by their elderly Mom and Dad. But Max was Mom’s special boy. ❤️ At only about 6 pounds, he was the perfect size to carry everywhere—and that’s exactly what she did. Sometimes she would even tuck him right inside her shirt so he could stay close to her. Max adored his mom, and she adored him right back. Maybe that’s why, even today, Max has a little extra love for the ladies. He truly loves everyone, but give him a woman to cuddle with and he is one happy little man. Sadly, their world changed when Mom was diagnosed with leukemia. Just a few short months later, she passed away. The six little dogs couldn’t understand why she was suddenly gone, but for Max, losing the person he had spent his entire life so closely attached to was especially difficult. Dad loved them dearly and continued doing the best he could, but he was struggling with serious health problems of his own. Eventually, caring for six senior dogs became more than he could physically and mentally manage. After Dad experienced a medical emergency at home, a concerned neighbor came to check on him and then went inside to make sure the dogs were okay. It became clear that everyone needed help. The dogs were dealing with the effects of a severe flea infestation and significant dental disease. Max’s coat had to be shaved, but it is already growing back beautifully. He also recently had his dental cleaning and unfortunately had to have all but one little tooth removed. Don’t worry, though—Max isn’t letting that slow him down. ❤️ These dogs had spent their lives being loved. Their condition wasn’t because Dad stopped loving them; his own health had simply reached a point where he could no longer provide the level of care six senior dogs needed. And sometimes, loving them means knowing when it’s time to ask for help. Dad made the heartbreaking decision to surrender his six little companions so they could receive the medical care they needed and have the chance to spend their golden years being spoiled again.  Now Max needs someone new to carry him, cuddle him, and make him their special boy—just like his mom did for so many years. ❤️ We would love nothing more than to see Max spend the rest of his life in someone’s arms, knowing he is someone’s favorite once again. ❤
