Zara

Description

Meet Zara, a 73-pound Labrador Retriever mix with a gentle heart and so much love to give! Initially shy, Zara is gaining confidence with training.  She is looking for a patient family that will help her feel safe with new people and surroundings. Once she trusts you, she transforms into an affectionate cuddlebug who loves chest scratches, belly rubs, and simply being near her favorite people. Zara is a quiet, easygoing companion who would make a wonderful work-from-home buddy. She enjoys cozy naps and squeaky toys while her people are heads down at their computer. She has begun to enjoy sniffing outdoors and playing with other dogs she meets on her neighborhood walks. A home with at least one friendly, confident canine companion would help her continue building her newly gained confidence. Zara is crate trained and making great progress with walking on a leash. She needs more work on house-training, regular walks every 4-5 hours has helped her to be accident-free while she works on communicating her potty needs. She is treat-motivated when she feels safe and enjoys learning new things, especially when she has another dog buddy by her side.  With patience, consistency, and love, Zara will reward her forever family with a lifetime of steadfast, gentle companionship and loads of affection.
