Description
Adoption fee: $650 Meet Dippin’ Dots Dippin’ Dots is a 1–2 year old, 30-pound mini Lab mix whose personality is every bit as sweet as her name. Affectionately called Dippy, she is a quiet, gentle girl who loves playing with other dogs, relaxing on the couch, and keeping a close eye on the neighborhood from her favorite bay window. A Day in the Life Dippy starts her day around 6:30 a.m. with a quick trip outside for a potty break. She then spends the next hour playing in the backyard with her doggy pals before eating breakfast around 7:30 a.m. At 8:00 a.m., she heads out for a short neighborhood walk. After her walk, Dippy enjoys more playtime inside or in the backyard. She may also take up her post at the bay window, where she quietly supervises the neighborhood until her morning nap around 11:00 a.m. She has lunch at approximately 12:30 p.m., then spends the afternoon alternating between naps and play sessions with the other dogs. Her evening walk takes place around 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:00 p.m. Dippy has a wonderful balance of playful energy and independence. She is always ready for fun with her canine friends but is equally happy finding a comfortable spot on the couch and relaxing on her own. Quiet, Gentle, and Dog-Loving Dippy is a remarkably quiet dog who hardly ever barks—even when the neighborhood dogs have plenty to say. She does not chew, dig, or chase squirrels, and she walks very nicely on a leash. She currently lives with a Golden Retriever and a medium-sized mixed-breed dog and is wonderful with both. Although Dippy can be a bit hesitant around new people, she completely transforms when she is with her doggy pals. They bring out her playful, carefree side and help her feel safe enough to explore and enjoy herself. Dippy would benefit greatly from having a friendly, confident resident dog in her adoptive home. A canine companion could help show her the ropes and reassure her as she settles into a new environment. A Wonderful Housemate Dippy is fully housetrained and has not had any accidents in her foster home. She has also been left home for eight to nine hours with the resident dogs and has done well without showing signs of separation anxiety. She is most comfortable loose in the home and does not enjoy being confined in a crate. Building Trust Dippy arrived at her foster home completely overwhelmed by everything she had experienced. She initially hid beneath a table, quietly watching the resident dogs from a distance. That first night, she was too nervous to lie down and began dozing while sitting upright. When the family’s Golden Retriever settled beside her, Dippy finally felt safe enough to sleep. By the following day, she had already begun warming up to the dogs and cautiously trusting her foster family. Dippy remains sensitive to sudden movements and needs people who will allow her to adjust at her own pace. Once she trusts you, she will happily greet you, follow you from room to room, and come when called. She enjoys staying nearby but is not overly dependent and can settle comfortably in her own favorite spot. Dippy has also started responding to a few hand gestures. She will need continued help learning basic commands, but she has a lovely temperament and tries hard to understand what is being asked of her. Her Ideal Home Dippin’ Dots is looking for patient, gentle adopters who will give her the time and space she needs to blossom. She adores her foster family’s daughter and could do well with calm, respectful children around age 10 or older who understand not to rush or startle her. A home with another friendly dog would be especially beneficial. Dippy takes tremendous comfort from canine companionship, and another dog will help her build confidence as she learns that her new home is a safe place. Dippy may begin as a cautious observer, but underneath that shy exterior is a joyful, playful pup waiting to emerge. With patience, kindness, and a trusted doggy friend by her side, she will become a devoted companion who welcomes her family home with pure happiness.
