Description

Animal Information: Chilly is such a great dog, and that’s exactly why our partners pulled him from the shelter just one hour before he was scheduled to be euthanized. We knew he deserved a chance. Chilly was heartworm positive, but he has completed treatment and is now heartworm negative. He is a very smart boy who wants to please. He crates at night and when his foster family is gone, and he leaves things alone in the house. He is potty trained and walks great on a leash.  He does great with people and has never met a stranger. He also does well with other animals. He spent two months with a foster who had a cat and just wanted to play with it. He even did great in the kennels at the municipal shelter. Chilly is also quite the character. He is a talker and always has something to RA RA about. He can jump a 4-foot fence, but instead of taking off, he comes around and sits on the porch waiting to get inside. Foster Profile:  Chilly is a really sweet boy with the most soulful eyes. He is great around all people and dogs he has met thus far. He is excited to say “hi” and hasn't exhibited any signs of aggression or wariness. He also wants to play and cuddle with Louise, our resident pup, and picks up her cues/corrections when she isn't feeling like it. He seems to benefit from having a dog friend around to show him the ropes and that everything is okay. Chilly loves to be close to his people; he thinks he is a lap dog! He is great on leash and already knows ‘sit’ and ‘go to your spot.’ Crate training is a work in progress as he really wants to be with his people or Louise and it takes a bit of time for him to settle in his crate. We think Chilly would benefit from having another dog in his home, but would do okay as an only dog with a family who is home often to share in his affection. He can be a bit vocal at times with the cutest “oooo woo's” when it’s time for dinner or a walk, so no apartments for this sweet boy. Chilly loves to go out for walks and run around in the backyard with Louise playing chase, but will come inside, curl up, and snooze. His name seems pretty apt because he is good at “chilling.” We think he would also make a great running/hiking buddy but he doesn't seem to need high levels of exercise to be able to relax. This sweet boy is up for any adventure and is a go with the flow kind of a guy!
