Pearl is looking for her person, her pack and the family she can put her whole heart into. Originally found as a stray with a litter of puppies approximately 18 months ago, Pearl was adopted and has now returned to our care. Since coming back, we've learned so much about this special girl. Pearl is incredibly loyal, faithful and very easy to please. She absolutely loves her foster mom, but we'll let you in on her kryptonite — this girl has a soft spot for men. ❤️ Her eyes sparkle when her foster dad walks into the room. Whether he's doing renovations, working around the house or outside, Pearl is right there, perfectly content just to lie nearby and keep him company. Pearl needs calm, confident leadership and an experienced home. She doesn't need a heavy hand — she needs someone she trusts to let her know, “I've got this. You're safe.” We've learned that Pearl's initial reaction to unfamiliar dogs is largely fear and uncertainty, particularly with smaller dogs. She may beat her chest a little at first but give her good information and some time to absorb what's happening, and you'll see a very different dog.   When our first new foster arrived — a 10-month-old, high-energy, in-your-face puppy — Pearl was NOT a fan! We initially gave her some quiet crate time to safely take everything in, then her foster mom tethered Pearl to her while everyone shared the same space. The expectation wasn't avoidance — it was “you're safe, we've got you, and we're going to work through this.” And she did. ❤️ Today, Pearl peacefully coexists with that puppy and simply ignores the antics when she's had enough. Then another puppy arrived. This time? No tether needed. Pearl simply needed a little time and space to absorb the new dog's energy and reassurance from her people that everything was okay. We couldn't be prouder of her progress. Pearl currently lives with six other dogs, and we've also been taking her out for continued socialization and practising calm walk-byes with unfamiliar dogs. She is very responsive, easily redirected and eager to please. That's why Pearl's next family is so important. We don't want her world made smaller by avoiding the things that initially make her unsure. We want someone who will continue nurturing her confidence, safely exposing her to life and showing her that they've got her back. Bring out Pearl's leash and she lights up like fireworks! She walks beautifully, loves the outdoors in any weather, adores car rides and simply wants to be included in whatever her people are doing. She's rock-solid with her housetraining and comfortably sleeps in her crate at night. Pearl isn't looking for perfection. She's looking for an experienced, confident family who will continue the work she's already started. Give this girl leadership, exercise, reassurance and love, and she'll give you something incredible in return: Once Pearl knows you've got her back, she's got yours. ❤️
