UPDATE! Meet Zulu! Sadly, this boy was surrendered to our city shelter when his owner was hospitalized and no longer able to care for him. Zulu we believe is a double Merle Catahoula mix. He is 1 year old and 41 lbs. Being double Merle — this has left him deaf ( he can hear some high pitches) and mostly blind. Despite his world being turned upside down and his disabilities — he’s the sweetest boy. He had settled into foster care with a foster that has both a double Merle and a deaf dog already in their home. He’s doing great and adjusting as he should. He seems more comfortable indoors than out, but is learning and adjusting to all the new smells and surroundings in his foster home. Zulu is great with other pups, loves to snuggle and truly is just as sweet as they come. He will be adoption ready in a few weeks once neutered. He’s utd, hw neg (tested below detectable levels) and has a neuter appt set. We would love someone when double merle (deaf and blind dog experience). He’s a special boy and we want to find him a special home!  Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals.  All dogs have a $195 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $145 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications!
