Description
Dobby is a 5-year-old, independent and curious companion looking for his forever home! This adorable guy is a curious, playful, and independent cat who enjoys being part of the action. He likes interactive play, especially stalking toys, and he has a particular fondness for playing with wand toys when they are hiding under a blanket or peeking out from somewhere. He also enjoys catnip kicker toys. When he's not playing, Dobby likes watching the world outside, exploring the house, climbing, and finding comfortable places to relax. He's an observant cat with a lot of personality, and he is an excellent household supervisor! Dobby loves investigating whatever his people are doing, and has a particular fascination with anything involving movement or activity. He is always ready to watch wildlife through the window, explore elevated spaces, check out new objects, and get involved in “helping” with household chores.Dobby has become increasingly comfortable with his foster family and accepts affection and attention, although he's still an independent guy who likes to have some say in how interactions happen. He is also very food motivated! This good boy has a moderate to moderately high energy level. He has a strong hunting and chasing drive, but also spends substantial time relaxing, sleeping, watching the outdoors, and hanging out around the house. With his curious nature, he benefits from daily interactive play and opportunities to climb, explore, and investigate.Dobby lives in a single-family home with two adults and a resident cat. He has access to multiple rooms of the house and enjoys climbing, playing, and relaxing in different areas. He has several elevated resting places and opportunities to watch the birds and squirrels of the neighborhood through the windows. This guy would thrive with adopters who appreciate an independent, playful cat and are willing to let him settle into a new environment at his own pace. He does best with people who pay attention to his body language and allow him to choose when and how he interacts.Dobby’s ideal home will provide plenty of opportunities for interactive play, climbing adventures, and keeping an eye on the world outside from a window perch. He would enjoy people who want a cat who will be involved in household life without necessarily needing to be a lap cat. This handsome dude may be happiest as an only cat, although he has shown interest in and a willingness to interact with another cat in foster care. If adopted into a home with another cat, introductions should be slow and carefully managed. He may also do well with a friendly, easygoing adult cat who enjoys playing but doesn’t need a full-blown wrestling partner, is comfortable setting boundaries and then walking away, and who responds to other cats with curiosity rather than defensiveness.Dobby has come an incredibly long way since entering foster care. He was extremely stressed in the shelter, but in a home environment he has shown himself to be playful, curious, and full of personality. This boy is learning to trust; he does best when people approach him calmly and give him appropriate space. He can become overstimulated by sudden movement or interactions that he isn't expecting, so his adopters should pay attention to his body language and allow him to disengage when he needs a break. As he's become more comfortable and learned his routines, these situations have become much more manageable and less frequent. He is not a typical lap cat; he is an independent companion who often prefers being near his people, supervising what they're doing, playing with them, or relaxing nearby. He’d love to join your family and add some special magic to your home this fall! There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimates.Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated.
