General info
Description
Meet Luna, the pittie mix pup. Luna originally came into the Shelter as an underage stray. She grew up in foster care for a few weeks to prepare for adoption. Her foster reports: `She is the best pup. She has a little area in the laundry room where she takes naps and spends the night. When we put her in for bed (between 8 and 9pm), she settles right in with her stuffed bear and doesn't make a sound all night. She ususually goes down for a nap that lasts about 1.5-2 hours. She has been amazing with the kids. She is still mastering potty training (70% of the way there). She uses her potty pads at night consistently but sometimes forgets during the day.` Luna was in a foster home with a large breed dog who she got along with. She would join in with him on alerting the house if the mailman arrived. Typical to a puppy her age, she is still perfecting life skills and manners like age appropriate socialization, potty training and leash walking. She can sometimes be mouthy during play or when she is excited. Adopters should plan to have toys available to redirect her attention to in the times that she is feeling inclined to play using her mouth. Luna is available for pre-adoption. Come meet her, fall in love and take her home. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
