Cooper is used to having someone around the home most of the time and will bark when he hears you come home or for a bit when you leave but he settles down after a few minutes. Cooper has one favorite toy that he likes here in foster care and that will go with him to his forever home, will that be yours. Don’t let his age scare you he is in good health and only lost one tooth at his dental recently. He doesn’t seem to mind the other fosters but doesn’t really interact with them either so he could be an only dog. Cooper does like to follow you around the house or yard just to make sure all is good with you. So, if you are looking for a bodyguard, he is your man. He’d love for you to apply right away so he can move on. Our must haves for Cooper are: A fenced in yard he loves the outside to roam Someone to be home more than not Maybe a senior buddy too No apartments, high rises or condos     ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.  We cannot adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.
