Meet Nyla Nyla is a beautiful 5-year-old German Shepherd who has experienced a lot of change recently.Nyla came to the shelter after her owner was hospitalized and could no longer care for her. Going from a familiar home and family to a busy shelter environment is a huge adjustment, but Nyla has been friendly and affectionate with our staff and is soaking up every bit of attention she can get.We're still getting to know Nyla, but here's what we've been told about this sweet girl:* Friendly and affectionate* No known health issues prior to her shelter stay* Has lived successfully with other dogs* Has never been around cats, so a cat-free home may be the safest starting point* Previously did well with children, although it has been some time since she's been around themSince arriving, our staff also noticed an issue with Nyla's eye. She was examined by our veterinarian and diagnosed with Pannus, a condition that can affect vision if left untreated. Thankfully, it can be managed with prescription eye drops. Nyla will need these drops for the rest of her life, along with routine veterinary care to help protect her vision.Nyla has already experienced the loss of her home and the stress of a completely new environment. What she needs now is someone willing to give her a little time to settle in, a safe place to decompress, and plenty of love.She's a sweet girl who is still showing us who she is — and we're excited to watch her blossom.
