Description

This dog is currently on our Call to Action List due to attempts to bite staff during a stressful intake - we believe due to high stress/fear. Chance has tolerated handling during his evaluation, and has been assigned a team of volunteer handlers to learn more about him, and work with him on getting out of the kennel. We'd love to find Chance a placement outside of the shelter ASAP where he will be better equipped to build confidence. Update 8/25: Priority increased to Priority 1 due to change in behavior during handling and increase in fear/stress. Today, a volunteer was unable to safely remove him from the kennel due to growling, shaking, and leash avoidance. Staff needed handling tools to leash and help get him out. Once out, he appeared more fearful and hypervigilant with increased sensitivity to touch, flinching, head whipping, vocalizing, stiffening, and muzzle wrinkling.
