Darrow

Darrow arrived at the shelter on 8/7/2026, from one of our local rescue friends. He's an approximately 7 year old red heeler mix. We were told there could be some corgi in there, but he looks a lot like a purebred heeler. He's a really nice boy! Darrow has been vet checked, neutered, and microchipped, and his fee is $150. Darrow lived outside most of his life and was abandoned by his owners when they moved. However, he's pretty well-mannered and keeps a very clean kennel. He's one of the happiest dogs we've ever met! He loves people. He kind of goes with the flow of things. He might need a little basic training and will require regular exercise. A home that has some experience with herding breeds like him would be great. We do think he would do okay with other respectful dogs. Cats? It's hard to say. Kids over 5 would be best.  NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.
