GUMDROP NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Gumdrop        Best Guess for Breed:   Sheltie mix   Best Guess for Age:  6 years as of August 2026         SEX:   Male   Approximate Weight:   31 lbs   Gets Along With:  Gumdrop does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog. We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   DC area foster   Check out this video of Gumdrop: https://youtube.com/shorts/OfIlK9em2ck.Special adoption considerations: Gumdrop was rescued from a hoarding situation in South Carolina.  He has not been well socialized with new people and has lived his whole life with other dogs.  New nosies, cars, bikes, and other things may create fear and anxiety.  He will need a patient adopter who can give him time to come out of his shell and learn that the world is a wonderful and welcoming place. And because he is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog who will show him the ropes.   Gumdrop is Looking For:   His forever home, filled with snuggles and opportunities to see the world! One where he is a cherished part of a family. He's very sweet, and SO ready to be a Real Dog.Extra patient and loving humans who introduce him to new places and people at his pace are exactly what he wants! Along with quality kibble, a cushy dog bed, and endless snuggles. You know what you get out of adopting a dog like that? He’s a smart, observant little guy who is learning more about the good life every day. He picked up the household routine quickly and sleeps through the night. One thing Gumdrop has definitely discovered he loves? **Walks!** He knows when it’s time to go and lights up with the biggest smile, happy tail wags, and the cutest little excited hops. At home, Gumdrop likes to follow his foster family around and carefully watch everything going on, especially his resident dog buddy. He’s curious and seems eager to join in as his confidence grows. Every day brings another little milestone, whether it’s staying close instead of running away or relaxing enough to enjoy some gentle pets. Gumdrop is blossoming more and more each day, one brave little step at a time. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
